On February 14 and 15, 2023, the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Center (MEDREC), a partner in the SEACAP4SDG project, organized a training session on “How to Develop and Implement Building Rehabilitation Projects Using Participatory Approaches” in the municipality of Bizerte, Tunisia.
This training was organized and delivered in collaboration with the municipality of Bizerte, selected as a beneficiary of the support program established by the project in Tunisia, and the Atmosphères ADD agency (represented by a group of engineers and architects) selected to support the municipality in implementing the planned actions.
The training was delivered to members of the local Living Lab established in Tunisia and brought together approximately 35 participants, including staff members from the municipality of Bizerte, students from the National School of Engineering of Bizerte, and the National School of Architecture and Urban Planning.
During the two training sessions, MEDREC and the Atmospheres ADD agency focused on the planning and implementation of building energy renovation measures, drawing on the capitalization toolbox proposed by SEACAP4SDG and adopting a Living Lab approach. The tools selected for local adoption were developed as part of the Med-EcoSuRe, PrioritEE, and IMPULSE projects.
The trainers also highlighted the importance of Green Nudging, a behavioral science applied to the promotion of environmentally sustainable behaviors, widely promoted to encourage energy savings and change consumption choices.
During the training, participants began to use the tools proposed to assess the energy performance of a selected pilot building in the municipality of Bizerte, and will propose energy renovation measures to reduce its overall consumption.
