SEACAP 4SDG introduces a support mechanism for Mediterranean municipalities to plan the energy renovation of public buildings

The Sustainable Mediterranean Cities project organized a midterm seminar as part of the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) Conference Series in Sousse, Tunisia, on October 19, 2022.
The SEACAP4SDG project participated in this seminar to share preliminary results, focusing on a support mechanism established to help Mediterranean cities and municipalities effectively plan the energy renovation process for public buildings.
This support mechanism aims to propose and implement the most cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies in a selected set of buildings, building on the results and impacts of reference projects selected within the project. It also identifies features to be generalized and adapts the knowledge gained to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of building energy renovation strategies adapted to local Mediterranean specificities, particularly energy poverty.

The participatory approach implemented was also shared with the public while describing the steps of setting up a Living Lab with the aim of providing project partners and stakeholders with a common space to collaborate and share knowledge directly with each other in order to propose and implement the most innovative and cost-effective solutions for the benefit of Mediterranean municipalities.
