On June 25, 2021, the Executive Director of MEDREC, accompanied by members of the REFAT and ICAPT project management team and the Director of Energy Management at SONEDE, conducted a field visit to the SONEDE water pumping station located in Chott El Fejij, Gabès.

The purpose of this visit was to monitor the progress of landscaping work prior to the installation of a 512 kW photovoltaic power plant for pumping drinking water, as part of the REFAT project.

The team was welcomed on-site by SATER SOLAR SA, leader of the Tunisian-Italian consortium that launched landscaping work for the power plant on April 1, 2021.

The site visit included:

– A tour of the technical and control building, where the electronic equipment required for the photovoltaic power plant will be installed;
– An observation of the cooling process for the geothermal water pumped to the station;
– The filming of testimonials and guided tour videos for project partners and beneficiaries.
