MEDREC participates in the FINAL CONFERENCE OF THE INSTM PEER PROJECT on the Potential of Currents along the Tunisian Coast for the Production of Renewable Energy

The National Institute of Marine Science and Technology (INSTM) held the final conference of the PEER project on June 16 and 17, entitled “Potential of Currents Along the Tunisian Coast for Renewable Energy Production.”

This project, supported by the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), provided detailed information on ocean currents, temperature, salinity, and sea level in water masses off the Tunisian coast. A collaboration between the INSTM and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided highly accurate, high-resolution information on marine dynamics along the Tunisian coast, which helped identify areas where marine energy development is potentially feasible.

MEDREC Director Marco Polverari presented the center’s expertise and recent activities, as well as the ongoing collaboration with INSTM, particularly following the recent signing of the INSTM-MEDREC cooperation agreement. Future joint initiatives building on the results of the PEER project for the exploitation of marine renewable energies were also discussed with the various stakeholders attending the conference.

More information about the event is available on the INSTM website:
