The Sustainable Mediterranean Cities project organized a midterm seminar as part of the Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) Conference Series in Sousse, Tunisia, on October 19, 2022.
This SBE seminar is a key event for the Sustainable Mediterranean Cities project, as it allows for the sharing of results from ongoing projects, with a focus on interpersonal collaboration, and the exploration of potential synergies.
The Med-EcoSuRe project was invited to participate in this seminar, which brought together local authorities, professors, and students to share the innovative approach proposed for the renovation of university buildings in the Mediterranean, which can be leveraged within the Sustainable Mediterranean Cities project.
University buildings reflect the different generations of students, some of whom will be the decision-makers of tomorrow – Ines Khalifa, Med-EcoSuRe coordinator
The participatory approach implemented by the project within the framework of a Living Lab was presented. It aims to make university leaders active participants, contributing to the co-creation and testing of emerging ideas, and the implementation of various innovative scenarios and concepts.
As part of this Living Lab, training courses, courses and capacity building sessions were organized for engineers, energy managers and students at universities across the Mediterranean to learn how to use the tools offered by Med-EcoSuRe to effectively design and plan a renovation process within universities, and to explore occupants’ perceptions of the aspects of university buildings that affect their well-being.
