The Managing Authority of the Italy-Tunisia Cross-Border Cooperation Program, under the European Neighborhood Instrument, has announced the selection for funding of the EauSIRIS project – “New Water and Soil Management Strategy and Implementation of Green Technologies for Climate-Resilient Agriculture,” for which MEDREC is the lead applicant!
Responding to the thematic objective “Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation” of the strategic call for projects of the Italy-Tunisia program 2014-2020, EauSIRIS brings together key stakeholders from Sicily and Tunisia who will join forces to design and implement a new, multidimensional and effective strategy for sustainable, climate-resilient, and energy-efficient agriculture.
The pilot actions of the EauSIRIS project will initially target certain hillside lakes, which will be modernized. Local authorities and communities will benefit from capacity-building programs for the optimal management and use of hillside lake resources to promote a local green economy.
The project will then directly target farmers through various training programs and the establishment of several demonstration farms promoting all the best practices and innovative solutions introduced by the EauSIRIS strategy.
