On April 29, 2021, the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Center (MEDREC) was invited to participate in a working session with the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA) to discuss future areas of collaboration between APIA and MEDREC.
The meeting began with a general presentation of MEDREC by Marco Polverari, Director of the Center. He shared MEDREC’s expertise in sustainable development and green entrepreneurship. He also presented the cooperation projects managed and coordinated by the Center, including REFAT, implemented under a technical agreement between the Italian Ministry of the Environment and the Tunisian Ministry of Agriculture. This agreement aims to implement sustainable development projects for young graduates and reduce energy consumption related to water supply for small-scale irrigation and drinking water production in areas highly vulnerable to climate change.
Ms. Inji Doggui Hanini, Director General of the Agency, expressed her interest in the development of renewable energy in the agricultural sector. The Agency plans to support and promote cooperation projects with investors in the agricultural sector, taking into account the subsidies provided for in the new investment law. At the end of the session, APIA and MEDREC agreed to sign a partnership agreement aimed at joining forces to promote the sustainable development of the agricultural sector. Funding for young researchers, coaching, and support for incubators are among the actions carried out under this agreement.
