GNESD Annual Assembly and Working Group meeting.

MEDREC took part to the Annual Assembly of the Global Network on Energy for Sustainable Development (GNESD), which was held on the 9th of December 2008, in Poznan (Poland), in the margins of the COP 14, under the heading of “energy and poverty – Improving access to clean and efficient services. The assembly was divided in two sessions. The first session was an expert meeting on the theme of the assembly and the second session was on future strategies and direction of GNESD including communication and outreach and future themes and short papers that may be undertaken. Finally the elections of the Steering Committee and Co-chairs were held. At this Assembly, a New Summery for Policy Makers (SPM) Based on the findings of the GNESD thematic study on Urban and Peri-Urban Energy Access was launched. GNESD had a side event at the COP14 on the 8th of December 2008 in Poznan in which it was presented the findings from the Urban and Peri-Urban energy access theme. The side event was organized in partnership with Helio International, Gold Standard and SSN. On December 10, the Network had a Working Group meeting. MEDREC, a member Centre of the GNESD network, was represented at this event by the Tunisian expert M. Mohamed Houssem Belhaouane. For further information please visit http://www.gnesd.org
