The Tunisian Solar Plan provides for the installation of biomass electricity generation equipment of 80 MWel in 2025 and 100 MWel by 2030. Even if this share remains low in comparison to the contributions of other forms of renewables, it is still interesting in terms of the absolute power installed.

 

 

Thus, decision-makers need:

  • to identify the potential of the highly charged biomass energy field
  • to choose the most appropriate process for converting each of these resources into electricity
  • to evaluate the cost of the electric kWh produced from these resources

All the studies will be experimentally validated on an experimental pilot allowing to produce gas from biomass by gasification as well as by anaerobic digestion, and to convert this gas into electricity thanks to a turbine operating according to an organic Rankine cycle. The cost of the produced electricity will be calculated and validated experimentally considering the entire value chain starting with the collection of waste and ending up with the production of electricity.
