PROSOL Industrial: Solar Water Heating for Industrial Processes | 28-11-2014

The National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME), in collaboration with the Italian Ministry for the Environment Land and Sea (IMELS), the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Centre (MEDREC), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched the project PROSOL Industrial in order to promote the development of solar thermal systems in the industrial sector.

In this framework, a workshop was held during the Energy Solutions World Sustainable Energies Forum (Enersol WSEF) 2014, the second edition of the forum-exhibition focused on the most recent technological, commercial, financial, social and regulatory developments in the areas of renewable energy and energy efficiency, gathering the global sustainable energy community in Tunis (UTICA Headquarters) on November 28th, 2014 accompanied with a technical visit on November 29th, 2014, to present:


  • The results of two studies as a proposal for a new support scheme for solar thermal technology in industrial sector in Tunisia
  • The demonstration project to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, developed with the financial support of IMELS and BENETTON Group. 
  • The solar thermal installation within Hotel Sultan in Hammamet, Tunisia

The Mediterranean

Renewable Energy Centre

The MEDREC, based in Tunis, was launched by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Territory. It involves international and governmental Institutions of Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia. The center is the focal point of the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Program.
