Desalination plant through wind energy in Tunisia

In September 26th, 2005, a technical Tunisian Italian site visit took place, where members from SONEDE, ANME, ENEL, and MEDREC had participated. The visited sites were varied desalination plants, six of them new ones that are designed to function for the coming years.

Seventh call for proposals launched in 2008 by the REEEP

As part of the seventh call for proposals launched in 2008 by the REEEP on its website, MEDREC conducted, through its regional steering committee, evaluation and short-listing of 5 projects in the North Africa region, two of which will be finally selected by the REEEP international steering committee and funded by REEEP /MIETM up to 100 000 Euros by project.

WHEESP: an open call for tenders to Italian consultants (2009-01-10)

An international tender was launched by the ANME in order to select Italian consulting firms and professionals in the preparation of studies, as well as, in the technical assistance for the implementation of a solar pond in Tunisia.

Celebration of the five-year existence of the MEDREC (2009-04-10) A great success

The two workshops organized by MEDREC on the occasion of celebrating the fifth anniversary of its creation, has been an actual success, where the Tunisian Minister of Industry, Energy and Small and Medium Enterprises, Mr. CHELBI, and the CEO of the Italian Ministry of Environment, Mr. Clini, with the attendance of participants from major Regional and International Institutions had participated.

Study on the identification of capacity building needs in ER in North Africa (2009-01-10)

To strengthen the capacity of stakeholders in the countries of North Africa (Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria) regarding the application of renewable energies, MEDREC is realising a diagnosis about the needs of these countries in terms of technologies, current / future applications of renewable energies, and the required resources as support and upgrade in order to identify the needs for capacity building, training, quality and standards necessary in this sector.

Conference about the Tunisian-Italian Electric Interconnection Project (2010-11-30)

The conference took place on the 26th of November 2010 and was about the potential of renewable energies and the regulatory Framework, organized by MEDREC, the Italian Ministry of the Environment, and in collaboration with the Tunisian Ministry of Industry and Technology.

Renewable Energy Centre

The MEDREC, based in Tunis, was launched by the Italian Ministry of Environment and Territory. It involves international and governmental Institutions of Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, and Tunisia. The center is the focal point of the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Program.
